Bastide du Claux Vaucluse Chardonnay 2017
- From Sylvain Morey whose family has made Chardonnay in Chassagne-Montrachet for over 400 years. That means he knows what he's doing with Chardonnay as Chassagne is perhaps the most iconic village in Burgundy for Chardonnay. Aged for 20 months in 600 litre barrels with much of those months on fine lees, the wine offers great complexity on the nose and a soft, rich mouthfeel on the palate. Ripe stone fruit, a hint of toasty vanilla bean, apple pie, bread crust and a hint of butter, the wine's richness does not betray it's firm spine of acidity that renders this still very mouthwatering. A wine that will help move Chardonnay lovers from California to Luberon.
